Cheryl's Thursday Class - Cheryl Schneider

Cheryl provides on-going lessons each Thursday (free for those who stay to play at 11:30 a.m.). The lessons cover a full range of intermediate to advanced bidding and play. Currently, the emphasis is on bidding for better partner communication, defensive bidding (when to, when not to) and responses to conventions such as Bergen raises, Jacoby notrump, help suit game/slam tries, responses to Michaels and unusual notrump, etc.

Join Cheryl Schneider for a variety of interesting topics. Opening leads, long suits and how to handle them, balancing plus many other topics of your choice.

Conventions Recap-Updating your Convention Card - Marsha Reall

Not sure which bids are forcing over interference or what your partner means when he bids 3 Diamonds over your 1NT opener? We'll iron out the details with plenty of practice hands plus a section of the class will be devoted to random deals so that we'll be able to address problem areas immediately.

Refresher Bridge - Marsha Reall

This class is ideal for the experienced beginner as well as the player who needs a refresher or review of modern bridge. We'll bidding rules and card playing techniques.

Beginning Bridge - Marsha Reall

Have fun and make new friends learning the world's most exciting game! This class is ideal for the new player, and will focus on evaluating your opening hand and modern bidding techniques.

Thinking Bridge - Marsha Reall

This class will focus on topics of the day and how to respond with difficult hands. Each bboard will have concerns with bidding, play, and defense. A section of the class will be devoted to random hands and choosing the best bid available.

Pesky Bridge - Marsha Reall

This course addresses pesky bridge problems and helps to clarify problematic auctions. As always, the last hour of the class will involve random deals for supervised play which will guarantee structured practice for each student.

Shuffle and Play - Cheryl Schneider

Cheryl's shuffle and play class will cover anything & everything….lots of challenging hands & concepts.

Developing Bridge Skills - Joyce Penn

We will evaluate the basic competitive tools needed when both sides are bidding for the contract. Audrey Grant's Bridge Basics 2 will be our guide for overcalling, takeout doubles and preemtive opening bids. Improve many aspects of your game by learning which suits to lead and practicing hand play using a series of pre-structured hands during this 6-week course. Sponsored by the Upper Arlington Lifelong Learning program, the course is held Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30, beginning January 21, at the UA Senior Center on Zollinger Road.
